According to residents of Kachin State, an explosion occurred after a bomb was thrown at the district education office in Myitkyina City, Kachin State.

Myitkyina City, A bomb was fired at the District Education Office in Tat Kone-Mandee Ward yesterday, August 23rd at around 3:30 p.m., and two office workers were injured in the explosion, and a resident living near the office was also hit by the bomb.

A resident of the neighborhood said that one of the people affected by the bombing was a Reverend Pastor of the Model Baptist Church who lived in a house near the district education director’s office. “I heard that a teacher hit me. I was lying in the house when the bomb went off. Soon after, an ambulance arrived,” he said.

Residents of the neighborhood said that in addition to the explosion, at least 15 gunshots were heard. Initial investigation revealed that two employees of the district education office were also injured in the bomb blast, but no separate investigation has been made yet, and the condition of the office damage is still under investigation.

The Myitkyina District Education Office, which is adjacent to the Office of the Kachin State Information and Information Department, including the Kachin State Election Commission Office, is a government office where Military Council troops were stationed until last May. Until now, it is also an office where Military Council troops always patrol and monitor in civilian clothes.
